Absolutely adore your room!!! So organized, colorful, and inviting!!! I am so doing the crate idea! I teach 4th graders but we are self contained...the crates will be nice for some extra storage. How'd they hold up for you? One student per crate or two???
ReplyDeleteLaKeta
P.S. I'm your newest follower; come visit me at thepolkadotdesk.blogspot.com
Thank you!! They are great they are about 5 years old now. They are actually screwed ton boards into the wall they WILL NOT BUDGE! One student per crate! But I had two classes so each class had one student using it. :)

Thank you!!!!! I wish I had known I sold all my owl stuff at the end of the year! Going to a new theme this year
DeleteYour room is so cute and I am feeling inspired. We have a new building, new room and I wanted to do an owl theme, but I was stumped. Thanks for the inspiration, you did such a great job. I was wondering about the crates you use for cubbies, did I read correctly.... do you put them in the hallway? Just wondering how that worked out for you. Did the kids knock them down since they were stacked like that? Thanks again! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat!!! I'm so glad my room could help! Love knowing that others are getting ideas!!! They are from Walmart $3.00neach. Yes they are in the hallway and eye are actually screwed into the wall via boards. We screwed them into 2x4s and screwed those to the walls!! Super sturdy!
DeleteLove the colorful cubbies!! Very clever!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! They work great!!
DeleteOMGoodness! Your classroom is AMAZING! Simply Kinder
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!! I am one of your newer followers!! Love your blog!!
DeleteI love the crates for shelves! How did you assemble them? I would love to do this in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteThey are assembled on a 2x4 then the 2x4 is screwed into the wall. They are GREAT! you could zip tie them together then screw them into the wall as well!
DeleteWhat size are the crates? Love the idea of stacking them to make cubbies :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know the exact dimensions. They are the crates from Walmart that are $3 each. Target now sells them as well!!
DeleteI am doing the crate cubbies this year. I read how you attached them to the board and wall. However, How did you attach them stacking on each other. Have you had problems with regular sized bookbags fitting?
ReplyDeleteI didn't personally attach them to the wall myself. I will have to look to see how they are stacked. The other teacher's son-in-law did them for us. I have had NO problems unless its a rolling book bag. Which those aren't allowed anymore!!
DeleteWow, your pictures of your room are wonderful and you have inspired me to get working! I especially liked your clip chart and how the students can clip up. Where did you find your chart or did you make it? Would you be willing to share it? My email address is agindoff@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance!
